Stepping into Serenity: Forestis Hotel in the Dolomites

Arriving at Forestis Hotel, a luxurious 5-star retreat perched high in the Dolomites, felt like stepping into a dream. After a cross-European journey from Cornwall in my trusty Defender, it was the warm and unassuming welcome from the concierge that immediately set the tone. From the very first moment, it was clear that Forestis is a place where luxury meets genuine hospitality.

Surrounded by tranquil forests, Forestis has been transformed by Stefan Hinteregger and Teresa Unterthiner from a traditional Tyrolean hotel into a contemporary haven that honours its heritage while embracing sustainability. My Tower Suite, a minimalist sanctuary crafted from natural materials, offered a panoramic view of the jagged peaks of the Dolomites. The balcony felt like a portal to another world.

Bringing along my saluki, Kai, I was delighted by the thoughtful welcome extended to us both. It’s rare for a luxury hotel to so effortlessly accommodate pets while maintaining its sense of elegance, making the experience feel warm and inclusive.

Days at Forestis are designed to nurture a sense of balance. Morning yoga overlooking the mountains sets a serene tone, while treatments like the Energy Flow massage at the spa offer rejuvenation after a day of exploring. The amenities, from the four saunas and ice room to the fully equipped gym, provide everything needed for both relaxation and invigoration. For those who love the outdoors, nearby forest trails offer moments of quiet wonder amid breathtaking scenery.

The dining experience at Forestis is nothing short of extraordinary. The restaurant, with its amphitheatre-style layout and floor-to-ceiling windows, allows diners to enjoy mountain views alongside the exquisite cuisine. The tasting menus, crafted with locally sourced ingredients, are a celebration of Tyrolean culinary traditions reimagined for the modern palate. Even breakfast felt indulgent, with every detail meticulously considered.

What truly sets Forestis apart is its people. Every member of the staff embodies the warmth and attentiveness that make luxury feel personal. From helpful recommendations to thoughtful gestures, their genuine care left an impression that will stay with me long after my visit.

Forestis is not just a retreat; it’s a sanctuary where time slows and the spirit is revived. For those seeking peace, renewal, and a connection to nature, this stunning haven in the Dolomites is an experience to treasure.
